Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026 · Applies to fikrasmart.com, the Fikra Smart web app, the student join page, and the Fikra Smart desktop apps.
In short: We collect only what the classroom needs: teacher account details, the lessons teachers make, and the work students do in class. We do not sell data, we do not show ads, and we do not use student data for advertising or profiling. Teachers and schools control their class data and can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Who We Are
Fikra Smart is a digital classroom platform made by Mohammad Awwad in the United Arab Emirates. For this policy, "we" means Fikra Smart. When a school or teacher uses Fikra Smart with students, the school or teacher decides why and how student data is used; we process that data on their behalf to provide the Service.
2. What We Collect
Teachers
- Account details: name, email address, profile picture (if you sign in with Google or upload one), school name if you add it, and your plan (free or premium).
- Your content: lessons, slides, drawings, worksheets, quizzes, images, voice notes and other files you create or upload.
- Class data you enter: class names, student rosters (names you type), marks, attendance and notes you keep in Marks / Class Tracker.
- Usage counts: how many AI requests you made today, so we can apply plan limits.
Students
- Students usually join with a display name and a class code from their teacher. No email or password is needed for that.
- If the teacher uses roster PINs or student accounts, we store the link between the student and the class (and, for Google sign-in, the student's name and school email).
- Classwork: answers, scores, drawings and handwriting, submitted files, voice recordings made in an activity, and the teacher's feedback.
Technical data
- Basic information your browser sends to any website (IP address, browser type) is processed by our hosting providers to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
- The app saves settings and offline copies of your work in your own browser (local storage). This stays on your device until you clear it.
- We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking/analytics tools.
3. How We Use It
- To run the Service: save and sync lessons, run live activities, show results to the teacher, and keep your account working.
- To provide AI features you choose to use (see section 4).
- To apply plan limits, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure.
- To answer your support requests.
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles of students.
4. AI Features
When you use an AI feature (for example generating a lesson, hints for students, or grading a sketch), the text and images needed for that request are sent to Google's Gemini API through our server. We send only what that request needs. Teachers can turn off AI hints for a session. AI output can be wrong and should be checked by the teacher.
If a teacher adds their own AI key in Marks / Class Tracker, those requests go directly from their browser to the provider they chose (Google or Anthropic) under that provider's terms.
5. Who We Share Data With
We share data only with service providers that help us run Fikra Smart, and only as needed:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Google — Gemini AI requests, and Google sign-in if you use it.
- Search providers — when a teacher searches for images or videos inside the app, the search words are sent to a search service.
- Content you embed — videos (e.g., YouTube), GeoGebra and similar embeds load from those services when shown.
These providers may store data on servers outside the UAE. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
6. Who Can See Student Work
- A student's work in a session is visible to that session's teacher.
- Teachers can share their own lessons and activities with other teachers or publish them to the Activity Store. Student results are not included when an activity is shared or published.
7. How Long We Keep Data
We keep account content while the account is active. Teachers can delete lessons, classes, sessions and results from inside the app. When an account is deleted, we delete its content and the class data linked to it from our live database; backups held by our providers are removed on their normal backup cycle.
8. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our cloud providers. Access is limited by database access rules so teachers see their own classes. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will inform affected teachers or schools without undue delay.
9. Children
Fikra Smart is used by students under the supervision of their teacher and school. Teacher accounts are for adults only. The school or teacher is responsible for obtaining any consent from parents that local law requires before students use the Service. Parents who have questions about their child's data can contact the school or us.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law), you may ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to its use. Teachers can do most of this in the app. For anything else — or if you are a parent or student — email us and we will respond within 30 days. Requests about a class's data may be forwarded to the teacher or school who controls it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date shows the latest version. For important changes, we will tell teachers in the app.
